Goodbye 20s

Ezzy sleeping in the booth at Lucille's

Last week I said goodbye to my 20s and hello to dirty 30. Or nerdy 30, as some people like to call it. But seeing as how my shower time is typically limited to 5 minutes with a baby screaming in the background for 4.5 of those minutes, dirty 30 is probably more accurate.

I celebrated the last day of my 20s visiting with my dear friend Millie at the beach. Ezzy has already been to Venice beach, but he spent 95% of the time sleeping, and we didn't really go on the sand or near the water, so this was his first real beach trip. He seemed a little blase about the whole thing, as you can see in the pics above. After our beach day we drove over to Santa Monica for some yummy veggie pizzas with Joe near his work.

The next day I got spoiled with two dozen gorgeous red roses and a box of chocolate covered strawberries, followed by dinner at Claim Jumper. It was a perfect, laid-back way to celebrate turning 30 with my family.

Friday was Joe's birthday eve, and we kept the celebration going with lunch at Lucille's BBQ, where I got a delicious southwest salad with grilled portabello mushroom and barbecue sauce. Ezzy was intently eyeing Joe's veggie burger and mac and cheese. It seemed like he was willing his hands to grab for it, but they just wouldn't cooperate. After lunch we did some shopping, followed by packing for our Santa Barbara bday trip (more on that in the next post).

29 was a really big year for me, since Ezzy and Joe are the best presents I could've wished for. It's going to be hard for 30 to top that, but I'm excited to see what's in store for our family.

And what would a blog post be without some cute & silly Ezzy pics?

Not sure what Winnie the Pooh did to him, but Ezzy is not amused.

Ezzy's First Hikes

This past week we took Ezzy hiking not once, but twice! He loves it. Usually he falls right asleep when he's in his carrier, but both times he stayed up for the entire hike up the mountain. He was looking around all wide-eyed and taking in the fresh air. Our first hike we went back to Roy Rogers Park, near Santa Monica. It's a fairly easy loop with a really nice view on clear days. The last time we went here, I was 7 month's pregnant. This time, Joe got the fun task of carrying Ezzy around.

After the hike, we got some delicious salads from one of our fave spots, Greens Up:

Our second hike was new to both of us. We went to Griffith Park and hiked up to the Observatory. Joe had read a Yelp review that said it was an easy hike with a steady incline. I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron. Steady incline? Yes. Easy? No way. There were some gorgeous views though, and it wasn't too long, so I would probably do it again.

4 Generations

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. We went to a barbecue at Joe's uncle's house where Ezra met his great grandma and great uncle for the first time - four generations under one roof! Ezra loved meeting his family and spent most of the time taking everything in all wide-eyed and happy to be held and adored.

Weekend Recap: escaping the heat with a trip to the beach

We took Ezzy on his first trip to the beach this past weekend. He slept through all but 5 minutes of it, but I think he liked the 5 minutes or so that he was awake.

And if you're in the mood for some cuteness overload, check out this video that Joe calls: the Ezzy Squeak. I just can't get enough of it. Seriously. I've already watched it dozens of times. Love this kid sooooo much:
