SF Zoo with Auntie

We were lucky enough to have my sister as a guest for the past week. The boys and I got lots of quality bonding time and auntie got to change her first poopie diaper. Win/win for everyone ;)

We decided to spend a gloomy day at the zoo and it wound up being perfect because all the animals were out and about. The hippo put on quite a show for us, playing outside of the water for a bit before splashing back in and showing off his giant teeth. All the flamingos had eggs, which was really cool to see. Declan got super excited about the ostrich and kept yelling and pointing excitedly as the ostrich came right up to the fence, apparently equally curious about this screaming little being. Ez seemed to like the gorillas best, even calling his brother over and saying, "Look Deckles! It's gorillas!"

After we visited all the animals we stopped by the playground and stayed until closing time. We had to drag Ez away and he and Declan immediately fell asleep for the entire car ride home.

Between the two of us we got tons of photos, but the really amazing close up shots are all my sister's. I can't get over the quality of that bald eagle photo. Such a majestic bird.

Cousin Time

We spent our Saturday on a marathon family-visiting session, starting with lunch with Joe's cousin and her son, who's two years older than Ez. Ez's cousin was super excited to see Ez. Until they actually came face to face, that is. Then they both hid behind moms' skirts shyly peering out at each other. After they'd both gotten some food in their bellies they jumped down from their chairs and were running around the patio like they were the best of friends. Logan is a great big cousin, he was really patient and interactive with Ez, and Ez found him hilarious. We pretty much had to drag Ez away at the end, with promises of more park dates in the very near future.

Afterward we brought lunch over to Joe's grandma since she wasn't feeling well enough to meet us for lunch. We caught up with her for a little bit before we had to head to our next stop - Target for a birthday present - then to a birthday party at another of Joe's cousin's house. Ez had a blast chasing his cousins around, sharing his toy cars, dancing, and playing hot potato. I love the last two videos, Ez is totally in his element - the little party animal!

If you were paying close attention, there was pretty much no napping whatsoever, so this was Ez by 8:00:

And Joe and I with our exciting weekend evenings:

Biore strips are so gross, but oh so satisfying!

We also did a mini photo shoot on Sunday, so expect (more) pictures soon :)

How did you spend your weekend?

MIA - Hanging With the Fam

I've been on a little blogging break because Ez and I decided to do a roadtrip to visit family. We wanted to squeeze in at least one more trip before baby #2 arrives. This also crosses #4 off the Spring Bucket List -yay!

This was the scene exactly two minutes after we arrived:

Ez likes to command where the uncles and Grampa sit (always on the floor) so that they're in optimal car playing position. That's pretty much how they spend hours per day whenever we visit. Ez is lucky they're such good sports cause this pregnant mama is past the playing on the floor stage.

On Thursday we went to the Oakland Zoo where Ez was obsessed with the elephants and the train (big surprise). The train was actually pretty cool because it took us right through the wallaby enclosure, and there were a bunch of joeys poking out of their mom's pouches. I'm not sure how familiar you are with wallabys, but they're super adorable and I want one of my own. And a hedgehog too.

Friday was apparently National Sibling Day (not sure if social media just made that up or it's an actual holiday) but it worked out well because we had a park/burrito/Starbucks date with my sister. Ez was pretty much in his element since he got to swing himself into a trance, hunt for rocks and sticks, and he even got to watch two trains go by. Oh, and the whole day was capped off with a big bowl of fruit. It really doesn't get much better than that.

So far Saturday has been more of the same: a park date with uncle that was all fun and games till someone face planted and wound up with a mouthful of dirt. I'll give you one guess who that was.

We'll be here a few more days, but I wanted to squeeze in a quick blog post while Ez is being entertained:

Hope you're having a great weekend!!
