Christmas in the City

I know I said I wasn't doing a Christmas bucket list this year so that there wouldn't be a ton of pressure to do a crazy amount of festive activities, but secretly I had a mental holiday bucket list and visiting San Francisco was on it. I don't know about you, but Christmas is sneaking up on us pretty fast. There's only one weekend left before then, and it's supposed to be rainy. So yesterday I convinced Joe to take the day off work so we could visit San Francisco and see the big tree and all the decorations. I can only imagine the crazy crowds that will be there this weekend, so it worked out well that we were able to go during the week.

We walked along the piers, made the mandatory stop to Ghirardelli Square for a sundae which we ate outside shivering in the freezing (for us Californians) cold, and headed to Union Square to visit the big tree, which I had been hyping up to Ez. We capped off the night with a visit to Santa Land in Macy's and accidentally wandered into the line to visit Santa, which we didn't realize because there was no line. One of the elves actually came out and got us and led us back to visit Santa, because I guess he was feeling a little bored and lonely. Ez got characteristically shy and stared any direction except toward Santa. Declan, on the other hand, immediately engaged Santa in conversation and let us take all kinds of cute photos.

Now all that's left on my unofficial Holiday to do list is decorating sugar cookies and seeing Christmas lights. Who else is kinda freaking out that Christmas is next week?? Anything left of your to do list?

  1. How fun! I think we need to take a trip up there to see all the fun stuff. The kids are almost at the age where we can actually travel and stay in hotels...I hope, going to LEGOLAND this weekend and are staying in a hotel, so we'll see how the littlest does. Last time she woke up at 4am, saw other people in the room and got excited and thought it was time to play! Doh!

  3. Sweetest Santa and baby picture EVER. I have a confession- I loathe SF. No left turns, brave pedestrians and the list goes on. Can we still be friends? Seeing the city through your eyes makes it seem magical so maybe I need to be more open.
