Painting Pumpkins (among other things)

Joe had to go out of town earlier this week so we decided to make the best of it and have a two day party, just the three of us. We kicked off the festivities with pumpkin painting, an old favorite for Ez, and a new fave for Declan. What's not to love about painting your shoes, and hair, and toes, and mom's pants, and maybe even sneaking a taste or two? Aside from a slight freakout on my part when Ez stuck his brand new 3 day old shoes right smack dab in the middle of the plate of paint, I decided to remove all shoes from the equation and just chill the ef out and let them do their thing. And guess what? While I was sitting back snapping pictures they both managed to get some of the paint on their pumpkins with no instruction on my part whatsoever. Turns out not caring is a lot more fun for everyone involved ;)

We kept the the party going with some cookie baking, which tided us over for both dessert and breakfast the next day, because everyone knows that anything with oatmeal qualifies as breakfast, a completely unsensible dinner that mostly consisted of bread and cheese (and wine for mommy), Cars, and Mickey Mouse. I was completely prepared to suspend normal bedtime schedules and just have a nice long movie night, but everyone else conked out early, so that just left me and the Gilmore Girls. Definitely not complaining. All in all things went more smoothly than I could've imagined. We still prefer Joe home with us though.
