9 Month Update

The many faces of Ezzy.
Ezzy at: 1 week old, 3 months, 6 months, & 9 months.
Ezzy - you are such a little ball of energy. Your dad and I were just marveling how you used to be content to face whatever direction we held you, but now you're constantly twisting and turning, trying to escape our grasp and reach stuff that we don't want you to touch. You're sitting up on your own and you even pulled yourself up to standing the other day. When you're excited you like to let us know by bouncing up and down and pounding your chest. You are going to be quite the handful once you're fully mobile. You're so alert and curious and you want to explore everything you can get your hands on. People are constantly commenting on what a happy baby you are. Just last night at dinner two separate women came up to our table to comment on what a cute, happy, and well-behaved baby you are. You make parenthood seem easy. We love you more than you will ever know.

Some 9 month stats: Ezzy weighs 18 lbs, up a pound from last month. He's wearing size 3 diapers and 9 month clothing. We'll find out his height at his doctor appointment next month.

Our 9 month daily routine: The main difference from our 7 month routine is that Ezzy has started taking two naps a day. He goes down for his morning nap between 9 - 10 and usually sleeps 1 - 2 hours. His afternoon nap is around 2:00 for 2 - 3 hours. I think the reason for two naps is because Ezzy has been getting up super early. Like around 5 or 6 am. Usually he just plays in his exersaucer while Joe gets ready for work and I get a little more sleep. For breakfast Ezzy eats a frozen waffle (I think about half actually makes it to his mouth) and a banana, some applesauce, and some oatmeal. Lunch is usually some kind of veggies + pasta/grains or veggies + beans mixed with oatmeal. Dinner is some kind of veggie puree mixed with more oatmeal. And I'll give him another waffle to snack on while I'm making dinner. He's also recently starting eating those Gerber puff snacks, which he loves. He's a fan of mozzarella cheese too.

Some notable changes from last month:
  • Ezzy has learned he can play us by crying, so now he's learned the art of the fake cry. He usually pulls that one out when I'm not feeding him fast enough.
  • He pulled himself from sitting to standing the other day.
  • "Ba" "Blah" and "Gah" are the new favorite sounds on rotation. He also likes to mix and match sounds every now and then, as opposed to just repeating the same sound over and over.
  • Waking up at the crack of dawn.
  • He's getting much better at walking with assistance.

Ezzy likes (in addition to his 8 month favorites):
Ezzy dislikes:
  • Playgrounds. We did the swings and the slide and he was not impressed.
  • Fountains.
  • .Waiting too long between bites of food.
  • His firetruck - he has a love/hate relationship. He loves riding it indoors, but not so much outside.
